Slot machines are possibly the most popular games to enjoy at casinos. On any given night, bargain on most of the slot machines to be packed with enthusiastic gamblers. They appear in a variety of gambling levels; a few just cost five cents a spin and others can cost upwards of $20 a play. Although slot machines are a gambling tool, a lot of people are intimidated by the high-dollar table games and prefer the delight and exhilaration of a good one arm bandit.

The earliest mechanical slot machine was created in 1895 and was dubbed the "Liberty Bell." Created by a California auto mechanic, the initial slot games had 3 spinning reels with a cracked Liberty Bell, diamonds, hearts, and spades affixed on each. Prior to this invention, the name "slot machines" was employed to describe various types of vending machines.

The initial widespread use of slot machines in US brick and mortar casinos is attributed to the Flamingo Hotel, Sin City in and around 1940. The owner of the casino had initially thought the machines would be awesome to entertain tired wives of some of the biggest whales of the betting house. He didn’t anticipate that slot machines would be an enjoyable activity for nearly everyone and that the appeal would go beyond the the bored wives. Now, it is said, the slots make up over 2/3rds of all money brought in by U.S. brick and mortar casinos.

The slots certainly have a full history. From the small creation of the late-19th century to the million dollar industry of today, slot machines will continue to expand in universal appeal.
